next gen OmniPod on the way

Late last week, Insulet announced that the FDA has approved the next generation OmniPod system. In our household this news was met with great excitement by my son as we heard a new smaller one was coming even before he started using the OmniPod. He even posted an Instagram of the new pod!

The new OmniPod insulin pump is more than one-third smaller and one-quarter lighter than the original model, while maintaining the same 200-unit insulin reservoir capacity and easy-to-use features. And the new OmniPod System includes an updated Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM) that features a series of enhancements.

Insulet hopes to begin shipping the new device by late February and into March. I know one house that will be very excited to begin using the new OmniPod!

Are you (or is your child) pumping? Which device? We are currently a 2 pump home… my son uses the OmniPod, my daughter uses the MiniMed from Medtronic.
